Subject: [sbcobirding] Brief Seawatch at Coal Oil Point, April 15
I made a short stop here at mid-afternoon just to see what was happening.  The tide was gradually coming in.  Down on the rocky beach below, I counted 177 Elegant Terns.  Out at sea, there was an almost continuous stream of loons flying west in small groups.  I didn't have my scope with me, only binoculars, so I can't say for sure they were all Pacific Loons, but those that were close in enough to identify definitely were.  My count for about 25 minutes of birding was 226 loons going by.
