With all the positive aspects of Spring...a lone Prairie Chicken at Dunn
Ranch is a tremendous downer!

I think Aldo Leopold's statement, "One of the penalties of an ecological
education is that one lives alone in a world of wounds" definitely applies
here! The vast majority of people have no clue and probably no remorse at
such a situation. It surely hurts to think about it and I imagine Tim
Barksdale has definitely been living with such a wound for a long time with
all his efforts to educate and to restore them!

I have very fond memories of all the pre-dawn trips, and all the students,
Mike Niles and I took to watch them there! And of the year you were our
guide!

I, too, along with many others on this forum I'm sure, truly hope it can be
turned around.....
