Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 16:00:00 Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: David Brown
Observers:
Visitors: 8
Weather: Morning rain delayed the start of the count. Overcast after that but starting to clear in the last hours and a sudden clearing at the very end. Very strong and relentless WNW winds.
Count was conducted from the car for most of the day, with a brief visit out on the boardwalk then near the platform for a short time in the last hour.
Raptor Observations: Only light migration due to the rainy conditions in the morning and the overly strong winds. Small groups of Turkey Vultures migrated throughout the day for a total of 63. One Osprey and three Bald Eagles. One harrier and one sharpie. Two red-tails.
Predictions: TOMORROW: Rain likely. High 58F. Winds SW at 10-15mph. Chance of rain 80%. Favorable winds, but the rain may prevent a raptor flight. We may have some sharpies, kestrels, and harriers push through between the showers.
MONDAY: Considerable clouds early. Some decrease in clouds later. High 58F. Winds WNW at 10-20mph. Expect moderate migration.
TUESDAY: Generally sunny with a few afternoon clouds. High 58F. Winds NW at 5-10mph. Expect light to moderate migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Brown (<davidebrownpa...>) Braddock Bay information may be found at: http://www.bbrr.org/
