Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 15:30:00 Total observation time: 6.5 hours
Official Counter: Jim Landau
Observers:
Visitors: No visitors today.
Weather: Overcast skies and drizzle for the first few hours. Around 1pm EDT skies began to clear to hazy clouds for the remainder of the watch.
Raptor Observations: A few migrants finally began to move in the 4th hour. TVs dominated as usual but there were a few other species making a move as well. All but a few were quite high, many identified by silhouette. One red-shouldered hawk did provide quality views of all the classic field marks. A broad-winged hawk moved through with a small batch of TVs, the first at the watch that I'm aware of.
Non-raptor Observations: Meadowlark, robin, cardinal, song sparrow, Canada goose, ring-billed gull, starling, flicker. I stopped in at the office before 5pm and was told that the Camp Road gate is now open till 7pm. (although the sign still says closed at 5.)
Predictions: Not very promising. The National Weather Service is calling for, "Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers between 1pm and 4pm, then occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. High near 70. Breezy, with an east wind 13 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph." A few migrants may move in between bouts of rain. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jim Landau (<landaujr...>)
