Observation start time: 09:30:00 Observation end time: 11:30:00 Total observation time: 2 hours
Official Counter: Jim Landau
Observers:
Visitors: No visitors.
Weather: Steady rain, heavy at times, made for a poor opportunity for anything interested in migrating. Temps in the low to mid 40s, dropping as the day progressed. Little wind but solid heavy overcast. The rain continued for a number of hours through mid afternoon after I threw in the towel.
Raptor Observations: No raptors with the exception of 6 of the local turkey vulture crew who were toughing it out in a tree near the back pond. Even they weren't interested in flying.
Non-raptor Observations: American crows, European starlings, 3 common Mergansers, a pair of mallards, song sparrows, ring-billed gulls, northern cardinal, 3 killdeer, one Canada goose and a whopping 18 wild turkeys. The turkeys provided the only distraction of the time.
Predictions: National Weather Service in Cheektowaga calls for, "A slight chance of snow before 10am, then rain and snow likely. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 42. Northeast wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Not a promising forecast. In fact unfortunately, the Friday forecast isn't very promising either. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jim Landau (<landaujr...>)
