Yesterday, the 22nd, there was a rare inland Elegant Tern and continuing Bald Eagle at Sweetwater Reservoir and a getting late Merlin at the main Dairy Mart pond. Today, the 23rd, the male Wood Duck continues at the sod farm puddle, a Cattle Egret was west of Hollister Avenue, and the first of season Common Tern is at Pond 23, the stint Island pond, at the salt works. Interestingly, it's a 1-year-old bird which typically are not the first Commons to arrive each season, but they normally come later.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
