Observation end time: 17:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Mike Zebehazy

Observers: Joe Sullivan, Steve Kempf, Wendy Zebehazy

Visitors:
Steve Kempf; Joe Sullivan; Wendy Zebehazy (all three of whom have great
distance vision and can pick out approaching raptors very well).
Also, several people stopped by to inquire about our activities.

Weather:
Bright, sunny, blue skies all day, with a bit of haze. Temps ranged from
41F to 51F. Humidity dropped from 61% to a very dry 27% before moving up to
41% in the last hour. Winds were mainly from the WNW most of the day with a
few fluctuations between W and WSW.

Raptor Observations:
It was a pretty good day for Broad-wings, mainly with adult birds and some
immatures mixed in. Many of the migrant Red-tails were also immatures.
Migrants came through from many different points and elevations. The
afternoon birds kettled earlier off the lake in the south or southwestern
corner before peeling off and crossing the site. One dark morph Rough-leg
was a highlight.

Non-raptor Observations:
Barn swallows moved through much of the day in twos and threes. A field
sparrow sang. At 6pm EDT there were no birds on the pond. The entire watch
was conducted from the main location on the entrance road to the cemetery.

Predictions:
A little less sunny than today, but about ten degrees warmer with a SSW
breeze between 15 and 20mph. Rain possible later in the afternoon.
Migration could be good.
