Broad-winged Hawk (Buteo platypterus) (1)
- Reported Apr 15, 2024 08:26 by Thomas Turner
- San Jose Creek, North of Cathedral Oaks, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.8107304&<ll...>,-119.8107304 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S168766419 - Media: 4 Photos
- Comments: "A Buteo was circling that gave off some interesting vibes. It didn't have the dark leading edge or any other feature I could use to conclusively say it was a Red-tailed, and it seemed a little thinner -- but probably not thin and pointy enough to be a Swainson's. I also couldn't make out a white chin. A more experienced birder looked at the photos and thought it was a Broad-winged, which I will propose here and correct if needed."
