Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 14:15:00
Total observation time: 6.25 hours

Official Counter: Alec Humann, Marcie Jacklin

Observers: Marcie Jacklin

Visitors:
No visitors today.

Weather:
Overcast with intermittent rain. The first few hours (8-11) saw fairly
steady rain, rain-free period from 11-215 and then more rain to end the
count. Winds started off with a northerly component and then switched
around to SSE.

Raptor Observations:
I was expecting more raptors during the rain-free window from 11-2. The few
birds that did move through were nice and low as there were no thermals
with the overcast skies. Enjoyed seeing the few adult Broad-wings and a
nice flurry of Sharpies.

Non-raptor Observations:
Other birds today included a good movement of Rusty Blackbirds, a flock of
34 Bonaparte’s Gulls (picked out by Marcie Jacklin), at least 6 Common
Loons (flying very high and almost due west), probable Cliff Swallow, a
Pileated calling from the woods and several migrating Great Blue Herons.

Predictions:
Southwest winds 25-35mph, gusts over 40 possible, showers evolving into a
steady light rain doesn’t bode well for much of anything tomorrow -
especially if there is a lot of rain to our south, effectively shutting
down the raptor migration (as I assume is what happened today during the
rain-free period).
