Doing a 3-4 day walk-a-about through some counties in central Iowa. Today I covered Howard, Greeley, and got a decent start in Valley County. County #1: Howard: 4 1/2 hours trying to cover the ebird Hotspots. Results 62 species 24 new county ticks for a total of 71 (long ways to go to get to the Brogie Mark (125) County #2: Greeley: 3.1 hours trying to cover the ebird Hotspots. Results 8 species (*total count of 26 birds*) 3 new county ticks for a whopping 35 total. Zero birds at 3 locations! (this seems totally improbable considering the numbers of Robins and RW Blackbirds I have seen on this trip. Strange but true! Birding is generally fun and relaxing (Greeley was not my idea of fun today). Tomorrow is a new day: Finish Valley, Start and complete Loup. Hit Garfield, Rock, and Holt on the way home. How could anyone ask for more?
God Bless and have fun out there!
