Observation start time: 07:30:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 8.5 hours

Official Counter: Alec Humann

Observers: Don Dixon, Sue Barth

Visitors:
Don Dixon spent a good part of the day with me (should definitely get
assigned a few days next spring), Steph Foraker and Sue Barth all assisted
with spotting birds and were great company!

Weather:
Today unexpectedly turned out to be nice, mostly sunny with temps warming
to 50. During the 9-10 hour cloud cover increased to 80% but then decreased
the remainder of the day until it was almost clear from 130 until the end
of the count. Winds were out of the NNW most of the day but after 4 days of
rain and wet snow, I guess the birds were in the mood to hustle north
today!

Raptor Observations:
An amazing movement of Turkey Vultures today!!! At times, it was almost
overwhelming! Kettles and birds streaming over gliding north continued most
of the day. An immature Golden Eagle was the highlight of the day at
10;37am. A total of 6 Northern Harriers, including an adult male, was also
a nice count for this location.

Non-raptor Observations:
Two Common Loons, singing Purple Finch, a lone Horned Lark, and a Northern
Raven were the non-raptor highlights of the day.

Predictions:
The weather forecast looks similar today except the north breeze is
predicted to have an easterly component. The watch may be held in Section H
or at the ballpark if the birds hug the Erie shoreline.
