Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Kentucky Warbler Paradise Point Vacation Isle further information and birding protocol
At 9:20 a.m., Paul Mulholland and I just saw the Kentucky warbler found by Liz and Kev earlier this morning at the Paradise Point Resort on Vacation Isle in Mission Bay. Exactly where they had it, which is the currently turned off waterfall area and a little bunion tree with the number 3 on it which is immediately to the right of the main lobby building entrance where one checks in and checks out, so easy to find. Right of a huge white wooden artificial beach chair. To the northwest of this immediate area is little fingers of islands interspersed in the large artificial pond here which has oodles and oodles of habitat which would be great for a Kentucky warbler and make it hard to refind if it doesn't stay where it is right now. Now the important information on birding protocol here. This is a private hotel resort but that has public parking and public coastal access. So park in the main public parking lot which is well signed in the middle of the facility and then head over to the main lobby building. Do not go wandering around the private bungalows and rooms with your cameras and binoculars and do not park in all the private spaces reserved for each of the individual bungalow rooms. There's plenty of parking in the public lot that's centrally located. If people misbehave, we could lose access to a bunch of this property, but if people do behave, the good news is the bird right now is in a public section of the resort where there shouldn't be a problem.

Two different returning Summer Tanagers in Coronado earlier this morning. .

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
