Subject: Re: [northbaybirds] Las Gallinas yesterday
Hi Anne,

Thanks for the report. I'm overdue to visit Las Gallinas myself and look forward to checking out the shorebird numbers in the flooded field(s), as this is a spot that generally holds low shorebird numbers/diversity outside of years when the surrounding fields are wet and marshy in the winter months.

I'm curious about the Snow Geese you observed. Did you perhaps grab photos of the geese or study them closely? I ask because there are a considerable number of reports of white geese (both Snow and Ross's) from Las Gallinas dating back to 12/31/24. Interestingly, birders seem to be reporting them as either Ross's or Snow, exclusively. However, photos on eBird appear to show at least one Ross's Goose, possibly more, mixed in the the adult and juvenile Snow Geese.

It would be helpful if anyone birding Las Gallinas in the coming days could to try and get definitive photos of most/all birds in the group of SNGO/ROGO. Easier said than done, I know! Thanks.
