I was not at the Louisiana Waterthrush site yesterday, but I did hear from a couple folks who were there who said that yes indeed, two folks jumped the wall and walked up and down the creek bed area, flushing the bird upstream. They are two birders from northern California, one of whom has a history of previous bad behavior. The "good" news is that after they pulled that stunt, the bird continued to be heard and barely seen in that upper area later in the day, so they did not force it to totally flee the scene. Although they could have. And clearly the bird does not like all the attention. Just like the bird over a year ago at the Santa Ysabel Preserve East. Hopefully this bird will not depart anytime too soon and might re-settle down and be findable again like it was the first morning on Saturday.
In other, more pleasant news, this morning (Monday) at Sweetwater Reservoir, there's continuing Gr. W-f Goose, Prairie Falcon, Vermilion Flycatcher, Vesper Sparrow, and a few scarce "inland" shorebirds for winter. And at Kimball Park in National City there's continuing Swamp Sparrow, pair of Orchard Orioles, Bullock's Oriole, and Nashville and Yellow Warblers. All continuing. Ditto two Western Tanagers at the San Diego Mission.
