Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] preliminary results Ranch Santa Fe area Christmas Bird Count 1-4-25
Thanks so much to everyone who participated in yesterday’s Rancho Santa Fe area Christmas Bird Count and congratulations for another very successful and enjoyable count! Special thanks to those who headed back out after the compilation to pick up species missed that morning. And thanks to San Diego County Parks for use of their San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center and for room setup and cleanup amid multiple user groups and a very busy day in general.

Not all groups have reported in yet, but preliminary total for the day currently stands at 190 species (+ 2 subspecies). Average number of species on this count has been 174 (range 145-202), so again, well done everybody!

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
