Hello Ken and All,
No Vega Gull 1/4/2025.
A few of us were down at the boat ramp at sunrise and with all the boating activity most of the gull puddle was out on the lake at scope distance (with poor light). Some gulls came back to the dock for perching and preening around 9am, but most stayed afloat at scope distances.
We saw all the expected species including glaucus wings. We identified the lesser black backed (I saw the adult with the messy eye make-up) and others identified an Iceland (Thayer's). We were not able to pick out the Vega, but with over 300 birds and poor light - odds were against us.
I'm going to try again during the week when it's closed to boaters. Will report back.
