Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Palm Warbler, Carlsbad La Costa, Jan. 4 2025
If anyone’s interested, found a presumed Palm Warbler at the San Dieguito
Sports Complex in the La Costa Valley area: (33.0741043, -117.2568613) (as
part of RSF CBC)

Hanging with yellow rumps and pipits, but sometimes alone. First seen in
the grassy field, but consistently goes to the other side of the fence in a
scrubby swale(?) area.

Very yellow undertail, light yellowish belly, bouncing the tail a lot and
making a palm warbler chipping noise. The face feathers are all ragged (it
keeps flying to some nearby eucalyptus) so I’m like 99% certain.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
