Had some last-minute cancellations for tomorrow's Sat 4 Jan Rancho Sta Fe area Christmas Bird Count, so if you're looking for an excuse to do some new year birding, there are three good birding spots in need of coverage:
Stagecoach Park in S Carlsbad, Santa Fe Valley and Del Dios Gorge Trails along San Dieguito River in east Rancho Santa Fe, and West Penasquitos Cyn/Lopez Canyon.
If one of those appeal, please contact me offline.
In addition to Paul's earlier reported scouting finds today, I had a summer tanager in Del Mar, a mountain chickadee in Penasquitos Cyn, and at San Elijo Lagoon a brant, the continuing black-and-white warbler, and the not-reported-for-quite-awhile northern waterthrush.
