Yesterday late afternoon, the 2nd, I payed a visit to my continuing pair of Hepatic Tanagers on private property in Tierrasanta and also had a female Orchard Oriole in the same tree. Alas, the site is private. Today, the 3rd, a Plumbeous Vireo is wintering for its third year at and near the Solana Highlands school in eastern Del Mar. Presumably the same bird folks often see in October the past couple years in tipus on the school grounds. But in winter, I typically see the bird more along the south side of the school along Long Run Drive in patches of blooming eucs, pines, and sweetgums. Yet another cismontanus-type "Slate-colored" Junco at Carmel Creek Park. Checking various tipu parking lots in Sorrento Valley/Mira Mesa produced a healthy three Nashville and two Yellow Warblers. A group of five Common Goldeneyes continue at Lake Miramar, typically on the far side near the dam, and which contains three drakes.
