Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Hot Spots for the week of Wednesday Jan 1 - Tuesday Jan 7
Greetings and Happy New Years

So another great week. 30 of the 31 identified Hot Spots were visited this past week and a checklist was submitted. It’s great to see the number of people who have contributed to this effort. There are names I see regularly, names I don’t recognize and obviously names I recognize. All of you though are contributing checklists which are helping to fill in the data gaps at the Hot Spot level and in addition making the bar charts far more usable as there are fewer weeks without data. At the end of this message I have some information on what’s been accomplished over the past 12 weeks.

This week there are 4 Hot Spots that only need a checklist this week and they will have at least one checklist for each week of the year (highlighted in red or have the number 1 after the name).

Since I started sending out lists (3rd week of Sept) the bar charts for 15 Hot Spots have been completed.

As a County 345 Hot Spots now have at least one checklist for each week of the year.

There are 892 (as of today, with new ones being created every once in a while) Hot Spots that have one or more weeks without a checklist.

Of the 892 Hot Spots, 33 only need one checklist and 143 need 10 or fewer checklists.

Each week there are an average of 490 Hot Spots across the county that have never had a checklist in that week. It varies from 334 (4th week of Dec.) to 628 (second week of August).

Each week an average of 50 or so Hot Spots receive their first checklist for that week (includes the Hot spots I send out)

I plan to continue to send out a list each week emphasizing the 176 Hot Spots that need 10 or fewer checklists. Fortunately only 20 or so show up each week. In addition
I will be adding some other Hot spots to keep the number on the list around 30-35.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
