Subject: Rock Wren at Beaver Lake Nursery Pond
Just as I was leaving the pond this morning, I saw a bird doing "deep knee-bends" on one of the pile of concrete on the dry pond bed. I thought sure is acting like a Rock Wren. I could not make out any field marks. The bird had its back to me, and was a fair distance away. I took a couple of photos before it flew to another cement pile even further away I am including one here.

The photo will win no prizes. I asked Merlin to identify it, and it said Carolina Wren, I used the same photo and gave told Merlin it had been taken in California and Merlin identified it as a Rock Wren. When it flew it showed a reddish brown rump, the tail looked like it had a large black spot in the center. I did not note what the tips of the tall feathers were like.

Habitat and knee-bends, and flight pattern all looked good for Rock Wren. I wish I could have seen the bid better.
