Subject: [Tweeters] Fwd: Watch "A Chicken’s Head Works Better Than a Camera Stabilizer!" on YouTube
This explains why chickens and pigeons and coots and other birds bob their heads as they walk. They stabilize-move-stabilize-move-stabilize-move the head as they walk, while the body keeps a steady forward pace. Presumably this is to give them the best vision of their surroundings.
