Fortunately the Pacific Decadal Oscillation has recently shifted and the waters are cooler than normal in that area. I suspect it's the PDO that caused this which is a normal oscillation. The last time it was in this phase was in the 70s and 80s. Maybe there wasn't the research up there back then on this species,? Anyway with colder than normal waters up in that area hopefully the species will recover.Â
