Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] wandering Wood Stork
The plot thickens. I just received a photo via Char Glacey of a (presumably THE) Wood Stork taken by a Sue Laris flying over the Poway High School YESTERDAY (Sunday) at around noon. Perhaps it had gone for a visit to the Safari Park and was heading back south and ended up yesterday PM at Lindo. This bird, which is typically seen in San Diego County for a few days in spring and/or fall at the Safari Park, and once previously at Lindo Lake in April 2023, has spent the last couple winters at a reservoir on the south side of Tijuana, and it was seen at that site in early November (six weeks ago). Maybe it decided to go on an unseasonal vacation tour of San Diego for a few days and has returned to Tijuana, or maybe it is back at Safari Park, or......???

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
