Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Hot Spots for the week of December 22-31
Greetings,

Finishing up another great week 30 out of 32 Hot spots had checklists submitted. This week is a long week (10 days) and only 13 hot spots fall into the category of only needing 10 checklists or less over the next year to have a full year of checklists, thus having a full bar chart. So I’ve included locations that have 11-15 weeks without a checklist. The number after the name is the number of weeks (sometime in the future) that still do not have a checklist.
Anza-Borrego Desert SP--Sentenac Cyn-15
Big Rock Park and Trail-1
Birch Aquarium-13
Camino Ruiz Park-11
Carmel Mission Park-14
Chollas Creek--Euclid Ave to 54th St-11
Cliffridge Park Area-1
East Penasquitos Canyon-11
East Shepherd Canyon-3
Hendrix Park Pond-3
Kitchen Creek Rd.--creek crossing-4
Kitchen Creek Rd.--lower-11
Laguna Mtns.--Los Huecos Rd.-7
Leo Mullen Sports Park and Trail-11
Little La Jolla Canyon-15
Los Penasquitos Ranch House-15
McCain Valley Rd-5
Miramar National Cemetery (limited access)-2
Mission Trails Regional Park--Barker Way Trailhead-14
Palomar Mtn.--Fry Creek CC-4
Palomar Mtn.--Weir Trail-7
Point Loma Community Park-9
San Diego NWR--Proctor Valley-12
San Luis Rey Picnic Area-15
Santa Ysabel Mission-10
Siempre Viva Rd. pond-14
Towne Centre Drive Miniparks (East Gate Park #1 and 2)-5
UCSD--Northwest edge-13
UCSD Town Square and Matthews Quad-15
Upper Nine Mile Bank (SD Co.)-11

If you have never looked at the bar chart for an individual hot spot, take one of the above open the hot spot in eBird and on the left under explore is where you can find the bar chart for that hot spot.

If you have any questions please free to drop me a note.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
