Subject: [EBB-Sightings] Pleasanton Barn Owl
Tonight around 8:20 pm driving out of the Thermo Fisher campus to Sunol Rd when a barn owl flew in about 15 feet in front and above my car for a few wing beats before going up and landing on a light pole.  Big one. Hopefully will dine on ground squirrel.
The local ground squirrel population exploded this past year and the numbers indicate a distinct lack of apex predators. The barn owls have always been around but the hawks and falcons haven't been around much this year.
