Subject: [sd-birds] Harlequin Duck - no
This morning I looked for the Harlequin Duck that was seen near Roughlock
Falls over the Labor Day weekend. It was raining so not many people, but I
did not find the duck. This is not too surprising given that there are many
miles of great mountain rushing water that this species likes and it could
have been anywhere. It seems reasonable to expect that it is still around,
because - why leave? Lots of great habitat and plenty of food. But, unless
it picks a visible spot to hang out, it may be pure luck for a birder to
actually find it.

Otherwise, it was extremely quiet bird-wise, even after it stopped raining.
No sign of migrants.
