Here's another twist...
At around 6:45 this morning, a Cattle Egret flew by me as I stood on the
concrete bridge at South Lake Merced. It quickly vanished in the fog
heading toward Daly City, but I had a good view of the small size compared
to nearby cormorants, the bright yellow beak, and the black legs and feet.
I suspect that it had been flushed from one of the golf courses, as I could
hear mowers already hitting the greens. There was also an eclipse drake
Green-winged Teal, and the N. Waterthrush continues on the east side
boardwalk as previously reported. The canal had a huge number of Yellow
Warblers, and there is a new dam/weir on the canal, which creates a small
waterfall and a swampy reservoir backed up toward the county line.
