Subject: [hmbirds] Common Gallinule - Vischer Ferry
I heard a Common Gallinule calling this morning from the towpath at Vischer Ferry Preserve.  The call is a pretty unusual one with a downward whinny.  This is fairly early in my experience for this species.  The numbers of ducks along the west pond have thinned out but there still are Wood Ducks, Ring-necked Ducks, and American Wigeon.  A few other species detected include Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Marsh Wren, and Pied-billed Grebe.

John H.
