I birded the Calero Creek Trail from Harry Road to Fortini Road this morning. I walked up part of the Stiles Ranch trail hoping to see the Calliope Humming bird (meeting Garrett and Amanda who had seen it earlier), but dipped. I did have see a Rufous Hummingbird while on that trail. Best birds were FOS House Wrens checking out a nest box, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, a pair of Lark Sparrows. I heard an Ash-throated Flycatcher in the IBM orchard on my way out and finally saw two near Harry Road on my way back. I heard an interesting song in a tree near the chaparral hillside closer to Fortini. Merlin identified it as a Lazuli Bunting, but I was never able to see it. I did have a bunting in this same tree last year, so perhaps they have returned.
