Even for step into the bark. Very bright distinct plumage. Larger than a spotted sandpiper, and no spots on its belly.able to get several good photographs for verification"

Hammond's Flycatcher (Empidonax hammondii) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Apr 11, 2024 13:00 by Petra Clayton
- Cerro Alto Campground, San Luis Obispo, California

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S168197219
- Media: 6 Photos
- Comments: "This flycatcher was overall smaller, duller, and grayer than a “Pacific-slope” Western Flycatcher. It had a "big-headed" look with a small, mostly all-dark bill and a white, somewhat oval eye ring. The primary feathers were longer than expected for a Pacific-slope Flycatcher, creating a "stepped look from the secondaries to the primaries." It had two pale wingbars. It flicked its tail upwards and also flicked its wings. --- Observed on the lower third of the paved road, on the left side, in a tree off the road.
