Could it have been some sort of pheasant or exotic game bird?

I'm kinda' freaking out a bit here in Eldon!!!

Just had a bird fly through that I couldn't identify by call or by sight observed in flight and to within 40 yards. It almost landed in gravel area of Adient parking lot then flew off toward the Eldon Airport. Not UPSA or Lapwing...larger than both.

Long-tailed, longer legs, white checks on dark wings. Initially reminded of a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher but larger and more shorebird-like - almost parrot-like though wings were somewhat pointed scimitar-like.

Loud, clear, single descending note call - repeated while in flight. Any ideas?!? Still freaking out. Taking the rest of the day off work to go look for it.

Anyone finding yourself in the area, please keep your eyes open for something truly unusual. Have camera and audio equipment at the ready; I feel this might need the records committee to weigh in on.

Good birding,
