Subject: [sbcobirding] Recent birds
All,

I checked Ocean Park yesterday and it was pretty dull. For some reason the gull flock that hung out there last spring hasn't materialized. Shorebirds numbers remain pretty low,

I checked Refugio on Friday AM and this morning. Friday was not that great, but I did have a Rock Wren in the watchpoint area that seemed to have gone today. There was pretty much no visible migration today other than TVs, but a decent selection of migrants were present in the canyon, mostly feeding in the oaks. Highlight was a great look at a White-throated Sparrow, that I detected by song initially, while a male Rufous Hummingbird was the first definite one I have seen there. There a few of Chipping Sparrow, Nashville and BT Gray Warblers among all the more frequent migrant species. A Hermit Thrush was also fairly unusual for spring migration there.
