Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus) (1)
- Reported Apr 04, 2024 13:35 by Toby Fowler
- UCSB--Manzanita Village, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.8527709&<ll...>,-119.8527709 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S167178237 - Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "Yellow reaches all the way up the belly, deep forked tail, thick bill. Tail is weird, it doesn't seem too brown, but there's not enough grey on the belly for Cassin's, and the wing's are edged with white unlike a Western. They're around on the lagoon, and one was here at Manzi the day before."
Orchard Oriole (Icterus spurius) (1)
- Reported Apr 05, 2024 13:42 by Alex Castelein
- UCSB--campus, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.8450041&<ll...>,-119.8450041 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S167292370 - Comments: "Female, small enough that I thought it was an orange-crowned when I first saw it deep in the bottlebrush. Soon got some better views in my bins and noticed the relatively short tail, shortish pretty triangular bill (not longer and more curved like hooded), and again the overall compact, almost warbler-like feel to it. Occasionally flicking its tail downward. No photos as I didn’t have my cameras and can’t digibin unless a bird sits still out in the open. I don’t know if one has been reported on this part of campus yet. In the bottlebrush in front of Broida hall (34.4144892, -119.8435792)"
