Visitors: 50, including two raptor education class field trips
Weather: Sunny in the morning with a high cirrus layer moving in throughout the midday and thickening by the end of the count. Light westerly winds became moderate NNW. Felt chilly with the wind.
Raptor Observations: The height of the flight varied with some higher migrants on thermals in the morning and a lower flight as the thermals weakened in the late-afternoon. A steady flow of Turkey Vultures, mostly slightly to the parkway-side or further inland.
One Osprey and nine Bald Eagles. A few harriers and Accipiters. A small number of Buteos mixed in with the vultures for a total of 5 red-shoulders and 25 red-tails. For falcons we had a Merlin and a Peregrine Falcon.
Predictions: TOMORROW: Cloudy skies early then partly cloudy later. High 46F. Winds WNW at 10-15mph. Expect light to moderate migration.
MONDAY: Rain showers early then mostly cloudy. High 46F. Winds NE at 5-10mph. Expect minimal to light migration.
