Subject: [sd-birds] Whitewood and North of Sturgis
I went out this morning to see if there was any migrant activity north
of Sturgis and Bear Butte Lake. What I found was almost no birds at
all. The cold weather persists in the Black Hills and Whitewood Creek,
small ponds, and lakes including Bear Butte were frozen with no open
water anywhere. At our feeders 1.5 miles south of Whitewood, we have
lots of the winter birds and on Thursday 3/16 we had FOY Chipping
Sparrows and today 3/18 we had a FOY Brown Creeper.
