Subject: [NHBirds] Coastal Migrants - Spring is coming!
Jane and I hit the coast this morning and although we didn't see
anything new for the year for us, we had some clear signs of spring.

We spent a little over an hour at Little Boar's Head in North Hampton. 
Not a lot of total birds migrating, but a nice variety of migrating
waterfowl.

Totals below -

Brant - 9.  Beautiful close MIGRATING flock.
Canada Goose - 7.  MIGRATING in one flock.
Mallard - 1.  MIGRATING with Black Duck.
American Black Duck - 4.  MIGRATING.
Green-winged Teal - 8.  MIGRATING in single flock
Greater Scaup - 3.  MIGRATING together.
Common Eider - 6
Surf Scoter - 29
White-winged Scoter - 27
Black Scoter - 9
Long-tailed Duck - 14
Common Goldeneye - 8.  Four MIGRATING.
Common Merganser - 5.  MIGRATING. Groups of 3 and 2.
Red-breasted Merganser - 7
Horned Grebe - 5
Red-necked Grebe - 15
Killdeer - 1
Razorbill - 17.  Includes 6 together in water. - Several moving north. 
Migrating?   None in breeding plumage.  Lots offshore today.
Black Guillemot - 3.  All in breeding plumage.
Ring-billed Gull - 8.  Some migrating?
Herring Gull - 14
Great Black-backed Gull - 4
Red-throated Loon - 1
Common Loon - 13
Great Cormorant - 6
cormorant sp. - 5 Single group MIGRATING.  Far offshore.  Probably
Greats, but not certain.
American Crow - 1
Northern Cardinal - 1
