One of my favorite parts of the late winter/early spring is seeing the American Woodcocks doing their courtship display at Haley Farm State Park in Groton. They are a near-guarantee on a nightly basis the first couple weeks of March…sometimes there are a dozen or more! If you’ve not been fortunate enough to see this amazing spectacle, Haley Farm is a great place. The fun starts about 15 minutes after sunset. The location couldn’t be easier (you can see and hear them from the parking lot)!
