If anyone in the Maskunky Marsh, Mahaska County area is looking for
shorebirds the marsh is worth a trip. Over 200 shorebirds visible. The
water levels are perfect today.
I’m not great with shorebirds, but there are at least Semipalmated Plover,
Solitary Sandpipers, Least Sandpipers, Pectoral Sandpiper, and of course
Killdeer. With the numbers there must be a real treat or two in there I’m
not spotting.
Also enjoying 39 Great Blue Heron and over 400 American White Pelicans.
