Come to think of it a week ago today while canoeing we heard a bob white calling from the west bank of the Des Moines river about halfway between Boone and Ledges

We sat and listen to it for quite a while

My 9.5 year old daughter enjoyed listening to it. Turkeys seem to be "finally" moving in. I'd welcome a "release" of quail here.

While fishing with our son on Big Creek Lake this morning I heard two Northern Bobwhite calling for twenty minutes from the East side of the lake. This makes me think there has been a release of birds in central Iowa because on May 30 I heard one call at Brenton Slough! I don't know where they might have flown in from.
