Harlequin Duck (Histrionicus histrionicus) (1)
- Reported Nov 24, 2021 14:43 by Sarah Spotten
- Avila Beach Dr RV campsites, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.754722&<ll...>,-120.754722
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S98032513
- Comments: "Continuing adult male. Finally spotted it at 4:40 p.m. after the sun went behind Point San Luis, hanging out and actively diving with all the distant Surf Scoters I’d been scanning through the scope off and on over the afternoon between the Port San Luis pier and Cal Poly Pier (bird was probably closer to Cal Poly pier, and, unfortunately, was seen after some other birders stopped and asked if we’d seen it). Really terrible, yet identifiable digiscope video obtained, stills from which may be posted if better photos can’t be obtained tomorrow."
