Subject: [cayugabirds-l] Merlin on East Hill Way
I saw what appeared to be a juvenile or female merlin late this afternoon around 4:20 p.m. on East Hill Way, hunting in the open woods on the side of the trail, east of the bridge that crosses Pine Tree Road. It perched right next to the trail so I could see it without binoculars, and it didn't have the tail or the facial markings of a kestrel.
