Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 14:00:00 Total observation time: 5 hours
Official Counter: Jim Landau
Observers: Bruce Hoover, Mike Zebehazy, Wendy Zebehazy
Visitors: Steve Kempf, Bruce Hoover, Mike & Wendy Zebehazy.
Weather: Similar to the past 3 days. Hazy, thin sunshine with light northwest to north winds.
Raptor Observations: A steady trickle of turkey vultures, made challenging by the local posse who played "hide and seek" all day, soaring north and then coming back 20 minutes later. Sharpies, Cooper's and kestrels made the list throughout the count as did one harrier and one osprey. The local redtails ran some courtship flights and one of the local Cooper's Hawks appeared periodically.
Non-raptor Observations: Some small squadrons of double-crested cormorants and an Eastern phoebe.
Predictions: National Weather Service says, "Sunny, with a high near 76. Southeast wind 10 to 13 mph." Finally a favorable wind direction! It could provide for a productive day. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jim Landau (<landaujr...>)
