Subject: [sbcobirding] Good day at NCOS
A surprisingly rich morning at NCOS. Good birds (in order of appearance): Cedar Waxwing (in trees near entrance), Cinnamon Teal (6 at various locations), American Avocet (at least four in main channel and up west channel), Western Sandpiper (many seen from large bridge), Savannah Sparrow (two near bridge leading to Devereaux Slough), Burrowing Owl (in usual location), Lark Sparrow (four near vernal pools on west side), Marsh Wren (north side of bridge on upper channel), and male Hooded Merganser (in Whittier Pond). Lots of other common species also present. Bird density was not high but diversity was very good.

That's all,
Rob Lindsay
