There is a 1955 British movie called in the US Wee Geordie, based on a 1950 novel by David Walker. It's not about birding, but one of the main characters, played by Alistair Sim, is the laird. He often appears with binoculars, and argues with his gamekeeper (the main character, Geordie) about killing birds of prey. Geordie wants to kill them, since every knows they kill grouse, but the laird is angered by the practice.
