Bev, if in fact it is the same robin returning and nesting in the same location I doubt it’s memory is so good that it can recall the loss of it’s eggs from the previous year. One has to realize the stakes so often are against a successful nesting. Fortunately being double brooded helps in this situation. B T W I have noticed this year in my area robins are late in arriving in numbers. As an example, recently along a two mile or so drive along Main Street in South Windsor I noted only one robin when normally a dozen or more should have been present. Also, still waiting for my locals to show up!
