Please don't take it personally. In a few years perhaps you will be chuckling at a few beginners also. When I first started all the waterfowl was "coots or not coots".
Beginners are definitely welcome!

Folks,

I do recognize that y'all are having fun.

And I want you to know that my wife and I are new to bird watching. We are trying to learn. When I read these messages this morning, they just made me cringe. If I ask an honest question, will you folks be laughing at me behind my back? I guess so.

I was at Eagle Bluffs last Saturday, had my scope set up searching for Ross' Goose among Snow Geese. A car pulled up with 2 men. They asked me, "Are those white Canada Geese?".

I suppose we could truly refer to one who is not enlightened about birds, as "Conan the barbarian"?

No offence meant! ( especially if there is someone on this list-serv whose name is Conan.)

Just enjoyed the all-too familiar scenario of a non-birder out birding. Many of you might have seen this already.

Cheers, Deepa.
