gull, standing out brightly in flock. Vibrant white wingtips, with no
darker color. Looks almost like egret in flight. Very large bird with
strong head (flat crown, angled at back), large bicolored bill. Continuing
in flock crossing county border to use Coffin Butte Landfill and fields to
north.

County bird for us both! Yay!"

together fell in nicely with the <i>hoyti</i> subspecies which breeds in
north-central Canada and is considered by ebird as an Eastern dark
subspecies. Supercilium white and throat pale yellow so quite distinct from
the bright yellow merrilli. Dorsum charcoal gray with very crisp streaking.

- Comments: "Continuing. There were probably many more than six present,
because I heard several LALO "pit-tic-tic" flight calls. I clearly saw six
LALOs, and most were typical immature/female LALOs with buff and brown
bodies, white wingbars and rufous wing coverts, finely-streaked crowns,
coarsely-streaked flanks, partially-framed buffy faces, and varying amounts
of black on the chest. One stunning male I saw appeared to be in full - or
nearly full - alternate breeding plumage. The birds were too far away for
photos."

- Comments: "Continuing. My scope views were excellent, but because I
couldn't see all of the birds in these massive flocks before they would
fly, I had to assume that there were probably many more than 24 SNBUs. The
SNBUs were mostly pale cinnamon and gray on their upperparts with white
underparts and black and white wings. I could clearly see the pale
cinnamon-colored chest bands on them. The birds were too far away for
photos."
