This is an interesting place for Phainopepla, but I have had one in the vicinity a couple of times, both times in winter.

Just a quick note. Yesterday walking the fire-break above and north of East Camino Cielo west of Gibraltar Road I saw one male Phainopepla and heard another close by. Other birds were the expected chaparral birds.
