Subject: [CT Birds] MEGA BOWL, 2021

Hello, fellow CT Birders!

The 5th annual Mega Bowl will be held in 2021 on Saturday, February 6th. The pandemic has forced a few changes to the event, that may turn out to be for the better! Birders from every county in CT may participate in their own counties now (or in a different one, if they like). And, they can participate either on their own or with a friend or family member, whatever they prefer. The idea will be to do as much or as little birding that day as you like. If you like a challenge, you can try to see how many species you can see in your selected county in one day and how many points you can attain (rarer birds are worth more points). All participants will be eligible for prizes and the birders who attain the most points in each county will be asked to designate which local conservation organizations or nature centers will receive $100 donations from us. Participants will be invited to join a Zoom meeting after the event to hear about the birds seen and to whom the prizes and donations will go. Be on the lookout for more posts on this list-serve (probably this coming weekend), providing further details about the event.

Thanks and good birding,

Chris Loscalzo,
COA President
